Here are a few shots I took, out of 100++ gruelling clicks, a drained battery, DIY flash bouncer and a whole afternoon that ended with a headache. Enjoy..

I’m itching to buy a macro lens for several months now. A 100mm costs roughly 30K in most stores, but if you’re lucky you’d find some that actually offer discounts up to 3K for a cash purchase. But there’s one prudent question that needs to be settled before buying…. should I shell out that amount of money now adays esp. with the hovering global financial crisis? I know, this is the time to tighten my belt, but I cant help but wish for that lens… a wish that is fast becoming an elusive one

After reading tons of site about Macro phography, I stumble upon an unsual technique of reversing a normal lens or your ordinary kit lens 18-55mm on Fred Miranda’s site. What a FB idea!

I found that there are local store sells generic reverse ring couplers which fit well on my Canon camera. It costs only 400php /gg! I had what I wanted from that dirt cheap alternative with my economic conscience still intact.

Here are some of the picture I took using the reverse ring couple with 18-55mm kit lense.

No, this is not about summer that is fast approaching, where you can think of basking under the summer sun. Crystal clear water, white beaches or even company outings.

This one is a serious problem facing all household today! It happened during the early days when we move to our new apartment.

In case of fire and worse, when a building is totally reduced to ashes, the flourescent ballast may not be listed among the primary suspects for electrical triggers.

The picture above clearly illustrates the incident which prompted me to replace all defective electrical lighting components in our apartment that may start a fire .

So you too, should ask yourselves, when was the last time you fixed or replaced any electrical systems in your place? If you haven’t, its time to check and do something about it to avoid any possible fire tragedies.

….continued

kilowatt-hour, took me some time to ponder how to remove the hour in the equation. If not for Tina, I woudnt get the formula to solve my problem.

To understand better, lets examine how our Meralco compute for our electric bill. A typical example would be a Flat iron that has 700watts rating. So the formula is:

[Power * hour ] / 1000 = kilowatt-hour

so, the only variable is the hour, if we use our flat iron for a duration of 4hours, thus the usage will be.

[(700 * 4) = 2800 / 1000] = 2.8 Kilowatt-hour!

Ding, that rings the bell… so to calculate for my AMP!!! all I need to do is to reverse the order.

(Power * Hour) / 1000 = Kilowatt-hour
Power * Hour = Kilowatt-hour * 1000
Power = (Kilowatt-hour * 1000) / Hour

Therefore:

AMP = Power / Voltage (220)

Problem solved ! ! ! !

Actually… this problem wouldnt be a big one if only I had look for the right resource.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watt-hour its all in the wikipedia /heh

Go ahead, try to compute your Meralco bill using your refrigerator as a basis and check how much it consumes per month.

For more than 7 years of handling Internet Data Center (IDC) operations, who would ever thought that I’ll be ask about ampere? AMP!? thats easy, just follow the formula P = V x I, to get the Current (I) = P/V! Voila, problem is solved!!! or is it? But what if you are only given the Kilowatt-hour? Thats when my problem started.

Faced with a dilemma of computing for the AMP with only the kilowatt-hour reading from the power distrubution, I began scouring the Internet and came up empty. An hour passed and by this time, my boss is already knocking on my ass demanding for the information!

The deadline is upon me looming like a dark cloud ready to strike with a murderous lightning! Seach engines, which should be the magical force in this computer age for all sorts of remedy, failed to deliver the right solution!

Then, something clicked… the Ozph connection! I suddenly remembered that a fellow Electrical Engr. is a loyal Oz player, Tina. I asked her if she still remembers how to compute for the AMP with only the kilowatt-hour in hand, after few minutes of silence, she gave the explanation that nobody else could provide. Hurrah for the Oz Player!

Problem solved… Yahhh.. antok na.. @.@ bukas na ulit… para may suspense paano ko na compute /gg

Move over Ronald Mc Donald, here comes the VADA PAV!
Ano daw !?
VADA PAV (Wada Paw) a.k.a. the famous Indian Burger.

It’s the taste sensation of the Indian Nation !!!

It caters to all un-suspecting taste buds. You want spicy? Add more chili. Can’t handle the heat? You can have it sweet. And most of all, it cost very cheap! 8rupees at any leading burger store.

Pag sosyal eto ang package mo. In original package!

We encountered this extraordinary delicacy when we went out for a break on one exhausting afternoon at the IDC. It is sold in food corners like a normal sari-sari store in our place. Its the fastest hunger reliever…. its just around every corner.

Last saturday we took a stroll in the old city of Mumbai, formerly know as Bombay. The city bears reminiscence of the British influence in building contructions, still plenty of old building around despite its progress. Below are the pictures I took during my visit.

Church Gate Train Station – built by the British, one of the famous tourist spots here.

The famous Gateway of India structure. Tourists from all walks of life visit the picturesque structure and take momentos that they can later brag to their friends and families. One can also take a boatride to the famous Elephanta Cave or just stroll around the bay and bask at the captivating scenery.
